Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi

Om Namo Bhagavathe Sri Ramanaya:

The passing away of Shri Sathya Sai Baba made me write this. I am not qualified to comment on whether Shri Saibaba is a realised soul or not. Only a realized soul can identify another realized soul. A realized soul cannot be judged by their outward appearance & activities. But Shri Ramana is a realized soul and he just shed his mortal body in April'1950 and continues to shed his grace on all seekers who come to him.

You can feel his presence if you know him. You will know him if you love him.The best way to know him is to read the books written by devotees who were close to him, These first person accounts give an insight into the sage's life & times. His teachings can be understood only when you read these accounts.

Atma vidya is really very simple if one can grasp the self enquiry technique advocated by Shri Bhagavan. Who am I is the question one should ask oneself. All the relaxation and meditation techniques one sees in newspapers and magazines offer only temporary respite for the mind's wanderings. Because "Mano Nasa" (destruction of mind) is different from "Mano Laya" ( temporary respite from mind's wanderings).

Self enquiry leads to destruction of mind. All thoughts rise from the root " I ". What happens to the world when we are asleep? We are not aware of it. When we wake up, we become aware of the world and surroundings.

This was summarised by Bhagavan in one line as, " Naan Udhiyadhu ulla nilai Naam Adhuvaai Ulla Nilai" (நான் உதியாது உள்ள நிலை நாம் அதுவாய் உள்ள நிலை). That is " I am that ".
The same thing has been said in the bible as " I am that I am ".
